Our Wealth Advisory Services
We provide both investment management services as well as more comprehensive wealth management services, and you may engage us to assist you in either.
First, a definition of wealth management. It is an investment management specialization focused on affluent individuals and families. Wealth management encompasses both taxable investment management and complex personal financial planning concerns and represents an increase in technical sophistication over 1980s-era financial planning.
In our Q&A section, we have a more in-depth discussion on "Asset Management or Wealth Management" as well as on "Family Planning."
Our Approach to the Markets
Today's global markets are more connected than ever before. Many investors are rethinking their asset allocation strategies, looking beyond traditional investments and asking, "Where are the market opportunities?" In response, we at Green Valley have introduced a new way of approaching the markets—with broader flexibility to globally diversify and expand potential opportunities through equity, fixed income and alternative strategies and investment vehicles.
We strive to identify "global themes" that we believe are most likely to be important long-term drivers of the global business environment. Then we use intensive fundamental research and quantitative tools to invest in companies that stand to benefit as these themes unfold. We believe this approach we help us to steer clear of trouble and stay focused on what's working, and making money.
Thematic investing involves identifying certain social, economic, industrial, and demographic trends, or "themes" that may ultimately drive the positive performance of a portfolio of securities benefitting from these trends. By focusing on big-picture trends, such as the depletion of natural resources, the rise of a middle class in the developing world, the baby boom (aging populations) and others, we can invest in a portfolio of securities we feel will benefit from those trends. This is an evolution of Peter Lynch's "invest in what you know" philosophy. The objective is to get in on stocks (and trends) before they make a big, long-term move to the upside.
Successful wealth management is a journey, not a destination.

Our Process
We begin with an exploratory conference to discuss your wealth management issues, financial planning concerns, and investment expectations and to introduce our investment management philosophy. We believe that potential outcomes and expectations first must be specifically defined, understood, accepted, and clearly communicated.
You should revisit prior decisions, outcomes, and expectations in light of new environments -- such as a birth or death in the family or market conditions -- and, if necessary, re-gearing your investments. Even small adjustments, can make big impacts on helping to preserve and growth your wealth.
Based on information gathered at this meeting, we develop a wealth management proposal addressing both your investment management and planning needs. At our second meeting, we will present the proposal and explain it thoroughly.
Subsequently, if you decide to become a client -- and depending upon the scope of the engagement, we may provide you with an individualized investment policy statement or a financial plan from which we can implement the recommendations made in our proposal.Â
Green Valley Wealth Advisors, LLC does not take custody of client assets. New accounts will be opened at one of the most reputable discount brokerage houses in the country. Our preferred custodian is Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services, a wholly owned business unit of Fidelity Investments. The accounts are titled in your name only. We will prepare all paperwork necessary to open your accounts. We will keep you informed of the process and will be in contact immediately if any further action is required on your part. All account transfers will be done taking into consideration tax consequences and trading costs. We look to bring over your existing securities wherever feasible, called "in-kind" transfer. You will receive confirmations of all account activity including any trades and transfers as they occur.
Comprehensive Wealth Management
Comprehensive wealth management is a prudent, thoughtful, highly personalized approach to making financial decisions. Our wealth management process plans for the key financial milestones in your life and the lives of your loved ones, delivering asset growth while minimizing the risk of major loss. It is the integration of investment management and strategic, comprehensive, and on-going financial planning.
Competent and informed investment decisions must take into account all of the factors that comprise an investor's financial profile, including retirement planning, tax and estate planning, investments, philanthropy, and risk management. If an advisor does not understand the client's complete financial picture, the quality of advice in any one area, including investment advice, can suffer significantly.
Investment Management
Our investment management process is focused on the following:
- We develop a plan and articulate it through sound investment strategy
- We implement the plan
- We continually evaluate your portfolio
Develop
We work with you to develop an investment strategy consistent with your goals and objectives. We do not recommend the same portfolio for each client. Instead, we take each client's unique circumstances and considerations into account. We then develop an investment policy for deploying your assets among multiple asset classes (domestic and foreign stocks, growth and value stocks, large-cap and small-cap stocks, real estate, various alternative investments and intermediate and short-term bonds).
Implement
We precisely design every portfolio with an eye towards cost control, tax efficiency, and risk management. We select investments and allocate monies with strict adherence to your individual objectives, time horizon, and risk parameters.
We consider every investment category, and make cost-effective use of non-traditional, or alternative, investments (commodities/hard assets, real estate, etc.) to ensure that our clients are optimally diversified. We believe that superior long-term investment performance is grounded in disciplined security specific selection. On an overall portfolio basis, we seek the highest expected return for a given level of risk.
Evaluate
We continually evaluate your investment portfolio to ensure that it remains aligned with your specific requirements through differing economic and market cycles.
We also review your financial circumstances:
- Have your objectives changed?
- Is your current asset allocation still appropriate?
- Is your portfolio meeting your long-term goals?
Our aim is to keep your financial plan in focus to help you resist the emotional urge to make reactive changes that could damage your portfolio's long-term performance.
Financial Planning
Our experience has taught us that the all-encompassing plans created by many firms cover many issues that are not relevant to the client at that point in time. Much of the plan goes into a binder that sits on a shelf that gathers dust. Our planning process delivers focused recommendations and analysis at the key decision points in your life. That is why we define financial planning as a continuous, dynamic process that should occur when it is needed -- as frequently as that may be. Based on your specific long-term objectives, we help develop and then implement a personal financial plan that uniquely suits your needs, analyzing the following only when needed:
- Retirement planning (including various simulations as to income and expenses)
- Portfolio management and asset allocation
- Estate and disability planning
- Cash flow and savings analysis
- Insurance, risk analysis, and risk evaluation
- Tax planning and tax reduction strategies
- College funding for children and grandchildren
- Getting the most from executive compensation and stock options
- Caring for elderly, and intergenerational wealth transfer strategies
- Charitable giving
- Coordination with your other professional advisors
For tax consulting, insurance, asset protection, and estate planning we have developed relationships with highly qualified professionals who concentrate in these areas. After providing initial analysis and counsel, we will work with you to identify the appropriate specialists and continue to monitor their efforts on your behalf.
This approach to financial planning and wealth management will maximize your resources with an appropriate level of risk, minimize your tax exposure, reveal hidden opportunities and incorporate your goals and aspirations.
Risk Management
Let's face it,opportunity and risk are two sides of the same coin. If the financial crisis taught investors anything, it's that risk management matters. And that's not just about having models and processes. Traditional approaches tend to be too little, too late. We believe in having ongoing flexibility to address one's personal circumstances as well as the ever volatile forces within the markets and the global economy.
Alternative Investments
Individuals and institutions continue to allocate an increasing portion of their portfolios to alternative investments. These investments are uncorrelated with traditional stock and bond markets and are designed to greatly reduce risk, increase returns, or both. There are thousands of options when seeking to diversify into alternative investments. Most are incredibly expensive, tax inefficient, highly illiquid, or simply not worth the risk given their expected return. This leaves a small minority of possibilities to choose from.
We believe it is possible that an allocation to alternatives can improve your odds of having a successful investment experience. Only after a significant amount of analysis can we determine how much exposure is reasonable and what strategies are prudent given your individual circumstances (examples include commodities and natural resources; real estate; private equity).
Account Transfers
